Our Vision

We envision a robust and beautiful landscape in the Algonquin to Adirondack region that:

  • Supports a rich mosaic of interconnecting habitats, sustains ecological integrity, provides resilience to a changing climate and functions as a critical link in maintaining natural habitat connectivity and conserving native biodiversity in northeastern North America.
  • Engenders an increasingly strong stewardship ethic and sense of “home place” and quality of life among the people who live and work here; and
  • Delivers a wide range of essential ecosystem services supporting a healthy and vibrant environment, society and economy.

This vision is all about sustaining both nature and its dynamic processes, and the unique quality of life of the people who call this region their home, for generations to come. This vision embraces, encourages and supports grassroots efforts across the entire region to protect the air, lands and waters that sustain us.

Our Mission

The A2A Collaborative, through a mutually supportive base of partner organizations and individual members, works to protect, restore, enhance and maintain ecological connectivity and ecosystem function for the conservation of native biological diversity and for the delivery of ecosystem services to sustain healthy people and a healthy economy for generations to come. This is accomplished by establishing a strong scientific understanding of the region and of effective stewardship practices, promoting, encouraging and profiling ecologically sustainable land use and business practices across the A2A region, and building a sense of pride and a sense of home-place for the residents of this region.

We work at bi-national, national, regional and local levels to develop strategic and site-specific initiatives to achieve our mission.
