Ducks Unlimited- Wetland Creation

Canada's wetlands and their associated habitats provide many benefits for people and wildlife. Unfortunately, these habitats continue to vanish. As much as 70 per cent of Canada's original wetlands have been lost in some areas of the country. Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is committed to the conservation of wetlands and their associated habitats. Landowners are among DUC's most important conservation partners. Landowners can help conserve natural heritage by placing a conservation easement on land.

Conservation easements are voluntary legal agreements between a landowner and a government or qualified conservation organization, such as DUC. These agreements are tailored to each individual landowner and conserve the property's natural values and features. This is done through a restriction on the amount and type of development that can take place on the land. Ducks Unlimited creates wetlands in areas where wetlands have been removed in the past.
