A2A Charitable Status
After almost 2 years of working on and refining our submission to the Charities Directorate of Canada, the Algonquin to Adirondacks Conservation Association has been granted Charitable Status. This means that our organization can issue tax receipts to donors, which can be used to reduce the amount of tax they pay. Up until now, the A2A board has not initiated any fundraising drives. Now such drives will have a greater chance of success. Charitable Status will also enable A2A to apply for certain types of grants for which we were ineligible previously.
The Charitable Status A2A has is still for the Canadian side only. As the American A2A movement gains strength, we will consider applying for equivalent status in the U.S. Meanwhile, we now have a post office box on the American side.
